Anthony Pomponio

Anthony Pomponio has been a music educator for the past twenty years. During that time, he has taught every grade from kindergarten through twelfth grade. Currently, Mr. Pomponio teaches concert band, jazz band, music theory, and music technology at South Side High School in Rockville Centre, NY. Prior to his appointment at the high school, Mr. Pomponio spent his first eleven years in Rockville Centre at South Side Middle School teaching concert band, marching band, jazz band, and music technology.

Mr. Pomponio is an active member of the Nassau Music Educators Association. He has served as chairperson for many all-county concert bands, has been an annual committee member for jazz band selections, and currently serves as the Division 5 Instrumental Vice President.

Mr. Pomponio maintains an active performing schedule and can be found playing bass clarinet, baritone saxophone, and several other woodwind instruments in a variety of symphony orchestras, concert bands, theatre orchestras, chamber ensembles, and jazz/commercial groups (where his four-horn arrangements can be heard) in the Long Island area.

Mr. Pomponio is a graduate of Hofstra University, where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Music Education and a Master of Arts degree in Wind Conducting while studying saxophone and clarinet.

Mr. Pomponio is a Nassau-Suffolk Performing Arts alumnus and is honored to continue his involvement with the organization as Director of the Youth Jazz Band.
