Nassau-Suffolk Performing Arts is excited to announce that we have found a new permanent home at Kellenberg Memorial High School’s Firebird Center for Arts & Athletics.
Beginning with the February 24 rehearsals, all remaining Nassau-Suffolk Youth Jazz Band, Youth Band, Honor Band, Jazz Band, and Jazz Ensemble rehearsals this year will take place in these new facilities. The Nassau-Suffolk Wind Symphony will continue to rehearse at the LIU Music Rehearsal Building. A full schedule of remaining rehearsals may be found on the schedule tab above.
The Kellenberg administration has shared directions for drop-off, student entrance procedures, and student dismissal. As part of our agreement with Kellenberg, only students are permitted to enter the Firebird Center for Arts & Athletics. Therefore, parents will not be allowed to enter the building at any time.
The address for Kellenberg Memorial High School is 1400 Glenn Curtiss Blvd, Uniondale, NY 11553. When you drive onto the property, the entrance gate closest to the Marianist Cross (and Firebird Statue) will be open. This is known as the East Pedestrian Gate. Parents should park along the driveway here for pickup and drop-off. However, you may not stay in these spaces when dropping off.
Students will enter through the East Pedestrian Gate, then walk alongside the FCAA toward the main school building. The entrance door is around the corner and is known as the South Entrance Door.
Once students pass through the outer glass doors, they will immediately go through the white double doors to the right and proceed to the second floor. On the second floor, students should continue straight down the hallway to the Orchestra and Band Room, which will be directly ahead.
Students who play large or heavy instruments should proceed straight through the next set of glass doors upon entering the building and walk straight down the long hallway in front of them. There will be an elevator on the left just past the gym, which they can use. After exiting the elevator on the second floor, students should turn left to reach the Orchestra Room.
When exiting rehearsal, students should turn left after leaving the Orchestra Room and use the staircase there. This will lead them to the East Door by the East Gate. If they are exiting via the elevator, they should proceed left toward the same East Door.
Should you have any questions or concerns, please contact us at any time.
