Brent Chiarello earned a Bachelor of Music Degree in Jazz Studies from SUNY Purchase College, a Master of Music Degree in Jazz Studies from Rutgers University and holds his administrative certificate from LIU Post. Mr. Chiarello has studied trombone, bass trombone and jazz composition with Conrad Herwig, Jim Pugh, John Fedchock and Bruce Eidem. He performed lead trombone with Conrad Herwig’s Scarlet Knight Jazz Bones, winners of the Kai Winding Trombone Ensemble Competition and was also a finalist in the 2nd Annual Antti Rissanen Jazz Trombone Competition.

As a professional musician Mr. Chiarello is a member of numerous ensembles including the Dave Lalama Jazz Orchestra, the Interplay Jazz Orchestra and the Concert Pops of Long Island. He was the trombonist for the show band on board the Queen Elizabeth II Ocean Liner’s final 40th Anniversary tour and has performed and recorded with various artists including The Temptations, The Four Tops, The Gotham Wind Symphony, Eddie Palmieri, Paquito D’Rivera, Todd Coolman, John Reilly, Ray Vega, Pete McGuinness, Ralph Lalama and John Mosca. Mr. Chiarello has been the trombonist at the John W. Engeman Theater since it opened in 2007 and has performed several times on Broadway.

As an educator, Mr. Chiarello was the director of the Rutgers Undergraduate Jazz Ensemble for the 2009-2010 school year, as well as the associate conductor of the Five Towns College Wind Ensemble. Mr. Chiarello is currently the K-12 Music Coordinator in the Cold Spring Harbor School District, where he also conducts the Jr. High bands, Pit Orchestra and Symphony Orchestra.
