Our Mission
Nassau Suffolk Performing Arts is a non-profit organization which was founded in 1994 in order to provide talented student musicians from across Long Island and the metropolitan area with additional rehearsal and performance opportunities in the concert band, jazz band, and vocal jazz genres. We are committed to offering our members a high quality educational and performance-based program that will provide enriching experiences and memories that will foster a lifetime love of music.

Attendance Policy Reminder

All absences must be reported in advance of a rehearsal. Speaking to or emailing your conductor about an upcoming absence is NOT an official notification. All attendance related issues must be sent to the proper person:

- Concert Band, Wind Symphony, Jazz Band, Jazz Ensemble, and Vocal Jazz members must contact Mrs. Korn (attendance@nassausuffolk.org) with any attendance related issues.

- Youth Band and Honor Band members must contact Mr. deVries (manager@nassausuffolk.org) with any attendance related issues.


January 31 Concert Information

The Nassau-Suffolk Winter Concerts will take place on January 31, 2015 at Tilles Center for the Performing Arts at LIU Post. Below, you will find sound check schedule and concert dress information for all of our ensembles. The sound checks will begin promptly at the times listed below. Students should be in their seats on stage, ready to play before the sound check begins.

Sound Check Schedule:

1:00pm Concert - Youth Band, Honor Band and Alumni Band

Honor Band: 11:15am-11:45am

Youth Band: 12:00-12:30pm

4:00pm Concert - Concert Band and Wind Symphony

Wind Symphony: 2:30-3:00pm

Concert Band: 3:00-3:30pm

7:00pm Concert - An Evening of Jazz

Jazz Band: 4:30-5:00pm

Jazz Ensemble: 5:00-5:30pm

Vocal Jazz Ensemble: 5:30-6:30pm

Youth Band Concert Dress

Girls: Black dress pants or black dress/skirt (must be long enough to drop below the knees) with a black or white top, no jeans, leggings or Uggs.

Boys: Black dress pants, white buttoned down dress shirt with a long tie, black dress socks (no short socks please), and black dress shoes (no sneakers).

Honor Band Concert Dress

Girls: All black and dressy, no jeans, leggings or Uggs. Skirts must be to the knee or longer.

Boys: Black dress pants, white buttoned down dress shirt with a long tie, black dress socks (no short socks please), and black dress shoes (no sneakers).

Concert Band and Wind Symphony Concert Dress

Ladies: All black and dressy, no jeans, leggings or Uggs. Skirts must be to the knee or longer.

Men: Dark suit or tuxedo, white shirt with bow tie, black dress socks (no short socks please), and black dress shoes (no sneakers).

Jazz Ensembles Concert Dress

Please see your directors for specific concert dress information.

Important Concert Dress information for all ensembles

In consideration of your fellow musicians please do not wear perfume, cologne, or after shave on the day of the concerts. 

Ticket Information:

Tickets for the January 31, 2015 concerts are available in person at Tilles Center Box Office or may be purchased over the phone by calling 516-299-3100. The box office charges a fee for phone ticket orders.  There are no fees for tickets purchased at the box office.  The box office is open Monday to Saturday from 1-6pm. Tickets will also be available at the box office at 11:15am on the day of the performance. Please note that tickets cannot be purchased online.  Seating is general admission. Tickets are $25 for Adults and $15 Students/Seniors. There is a $4 surcharge for all tickets purchased by phone. There is no surcharge for tickets purchased at the box office.

Just a few reminders regarding the Nassau-Suffolk Performing Arts policies:

 

1. All members must register for members' email. The link can be found at the bottom left corner of our homepage. We communicate via email and it is your responsibility to check your email account.

 

2. SENIOR ENSEMBLES: All absences must be reported to Mrs. Korn, the Assistant Director. Speaking to your conductor about an upcoming absence is not official notification.  The appropriate absence notification form can be found at nassausuffolk.org. Please use phone notification only for an unexpected or unplanned absence such as illness. UNREPORTED ABSENCES WILL NOT BE EXCUSED.

 

3. Seating audition information, changes in rehearsal schedule/location, weather related cancellations, and conductor comments will be sent via email and posted at nassausuffolk.org. Remember to check your email and monitor the NSPA homepage.

 

4. WIND SYMPHONY, CONCERT BAND, HONOR BAND and YOUTH BAND MEMBERS MUST SIGN IN UPON ARRIVAL. You will be charged an absence if you have not signed in. Arrival after the downbeat will be considered a half absence. You have only two discretionary absences per concert period. School musical commitments are excused absences only if submitted on the appropriate form. 

 

5. Attendance at all Dress Rehearsals is MANDATORY. Absence from this rehearsal will only be excused if it is due to a school musical commitment or the Assistant Director or Ensembles Manager has approved the absence two weeks prior to the rehearsal.
